Yeah. Somehow I can't help but imagine a shifter snap like that if a true manual is offered in the supercar tier from the Hellcat up. Or even the R35's tier. Like, change to 5th and then suddenly you're holding the knob in the air and the stick snapped level with the gate.
Something like this...
but in a Huayra.

The Hellcat challenger has a manual. Ford GTs are boosted to ludicrous horsepower while keeping their manual transmissions.

I think that happened to Bam Margera in the Gumball 3000 in his Lambo turns out it was a $10,000 fix. since they had to drop the tranny and rip it half apart to replace the broken part.

Supra manuals are good to 1000+, And as For Sweden said crazy hp Ford GTs have their stock transmissions.

why would the shifter handle break due to high HP numbers? Shifters brake because people are dumb, or there is a serious defect.

There's really not that much extra stress on the shifter proportional to power, since the only difference is having to push a stronger part inside the box - and stronger doesn't necessarily make for heavier or more resistive. I *have* had a shifter snap off in my hand, though. A 70hp Land Rover, because it turns out 60s metallurgy, a very, very long shifter, and low-R vibration don't mix.

Something like this used to happen in old Escort Cosworths - go for 2nd or 4th too aggressively and the knob would come off.

You do realize the engine puts no force on the stick, regardless of power level, right? The thing that puts force on it is a hand. If you're implying that only big, strong guys can drive a car with a lot of power and a manual, strong enough to snap the metal stick, then I'm not sure what to say.
